Playsindough.com came about because I have a love for collecting and trying “new to us” recipes and wanted an organized way to share them . The “love” started around the time my grandmother was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2005. I began to realize a vast amount of life knowledge and family history was quickly slipping away from us.
I started talking with my grandmother and listening to her history, wisdom’s and recipes. From there I started working on expanding my knowledge of my families history. I visited with my extended family about their history, wisdom’s and recipes. This idea of recipe sharing broadened to my friends too. Next thing you know I have a pile of 100′s of recipes from great-great grandmothers, great aunts, next door neighbors and friends.
Then this patchwork of deliciousness sat in a folder on my desktop for a few years because life got busy. In 2009, I met my now spouse and together we’ve spent hours tasting and tweaking these recipes and continually discovering new ones. Enjoyed many, over cooked a few and set off the fire alarm over at least one of them.
In 2010, I started blogging about these recipes and it has now spun into our website. I hope you enjoy Plays in Dough as much as we have.
