• 4 cups self-rising flour
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup raisins

These biscuits are tasty!

In a mixing bowl sift flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda and sugar. Blend in shortening with a fork until mixture is fine. Next add milk and stir until just mixed. Add raisins to dough mixture and mix some more. Then add cinnamon and mix even more! Keep mixing until cinnamon and raisins are swirled through batter. That said do not mix the batter any more than you have to.

Place dough on well floured surface. Flour the top of dough and pat down with hands until 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 3 inch wedges and place on greased baking pan. Bake at 400°F/ 200°C for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Frost with powdered sugar icing.
