- 1 pound of raisins
- 3 cups of gum drops, halved
- 4 cups of flour
- 1¼ cups of butter
- 1¼ cups of sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1½ cups of applesauce
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of baking soda
- 1 tsp of hot water
- 1 tsp of cloves
- 1 tsp of cinnamon
This was my Grandma Bristow’s favorite cake!
Preheat oven to 325°F/ 170°C.
In a small bowl, add the gum drops, sprinkle in 2 cups flour, toss halved gum drops in flour and set aside.
In another bowl dissolve the baking soda in hot water. Once dissolved, add remaining ingredients and mix well. Then fold in flour, gum drops and raisins. Bake in a greased bundt pan for 90 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean.
