• 1 cup sugar
  • 3 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup oil

From the kitchen of my Great Grandma Wiest.

In bowl sift in flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Mix in well beaten egg, milk and vanilla. Spread flour on flat surface, pat out dough to about 1 inch in thickness. Use a cookie cutter or a drinking glass to cut donuts from dough. In a heavy pan, heat oil over medium to high flame. Once hot, add dough to the oil and as soon as dough rises to the top, flip and brown the other side. Sprinkle with sugar and serve.

*Also super tasty when sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.
